Third Year Portfolio

Bad Language Good City

My third year project was to create a public building within the city's fabric in East London, Whitechapel. The area has been demolished during World War II, therefore I have been focusing on to create a mixed use community building that continues the infrastructure and the urban revolution of Whitechapel but it also breaks some rules and creates uniqueness in the area. Such as the heavy main exterior staircase that connects every floor together as well as the roof gardens. Therefore, emphasising the importance of green space created a relationship between the nearby park and my proposal. The building has a wrapped around courtyard with an auditorium staircase seating area. On ground level auditorium and study space. Roff gardens, library, exhibition area and meeting rooms on the floors above.
